The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has announced its readiness to participate in demining activities in the border areas between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioglu made the announcement at a joint press conference with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov in Baku on Friday. “The OSCE has sufficient experience and expertise in demining. We are ready to contribute to demining in the border regions if Azerbaijan and Armenia express the will to do so. The OSCE is a structure of member states. If both sides make a formal request for our assistance, we have all the necessary tools, experts and methods,” Sinirlioglu said. The OSCE Secretary General underlined that the organization, with its neutrality, can play a constructive role in such humanitarian projects.
