Canberra announced new sanctions against Moscow, banning the supply of certain goods to Russia due to the situation in Ukraine.
This is stated in a letter from the Australian Department of Internal Affairs, the Report reports with reference to TASS. This includes spare parts for tools and electrical machinery.
The ministry announced that a new order by Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong banned the export to Russia of “all types of tools, whether or not powered by mechanical power, and parts and spare parts for machines designed for pressing, stamping, punching, tapping, drilling, boring, broaching, milling, turning or screw driving”. “The export of moulds and dies for metal products, as well as rock and soil drilling tools is prohibited,” the ministry said.
Also banned were “nuclear reactors and their parts, boilers, machinery and mechanical equipment”. “Electrical machinery and their spare parts, all kinds of sound recorders, reproducers and loudspeakers, devices for recording television images and sounds, and the supply of parts and components of such products,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
The Australian authorities had previously imposed severe restrictions on arms exports to Russia, banned most Russian banks from accessing Australian capital markets, and also banned the export of goods and services for use in oil, gas and mineral exploration and production in Russia.
