Construction works for the “Alakol” health and wellness resort complex project in Kazakhstan’s Abay region, involving investors from Azerbaijan, are planned to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
This was announced to Kazakhstan’s Report bureau by the State Institution “Abay Region Tourism Department.”
“Work is currently underway to coordinate the land plot, including procedures for selecting and allocating the territory in accordance with the established legal order. The project is at the pre-design preparation stage. The final approval of the construction site and the commencement of construction works are planned for Q4 2026, subject to the completion of all necessary approval procedures,” the department stated.
It was also emphasized that the preliminary investment volume for the project is estimated at approximately $20 million (10 billion tenge) and may be revised upon completion of the project and cost estimation documentation.
“The participation of the Azerbaijani side in the project’s implementation is planned in the format of joint investments, with the possibility of establishing a joint venture involving both parties. The final model of cooperation is currently being negotiated between the parties,” the department added.
The project timeline provides for the completion of construction and commissioning of the facility within 3 years from the start of construction works.
The health and wellness resort complex will encompass the following main areas of activity: sanatorium and spa treatment and rehabilitation; medical and health services; SPA and wellness facilities; hotel services and tourism.
