Uzbekistan and Japan discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in the field of digital technologies, with a focus on the export of IT services, the development of digital infrastructure, skills training and attracting investment in major technology projects.

This was stated in a press release from the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan.

The talks took place during a meeting between Rustam Karimjonov, Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, and a Japanese delegation led by Takeshi Hashimoto, Chair of the Japan–CIS Business Cooperation Committee under the Japan Business Federation (Keidanren).

The parties explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in the digital sphere, implement joint projects and expand their investment partnership.

Particular attention was paid to the training in Uzbekistan of qualified IT specialists who meet international standards, in order to meet Japan’s growing demand for IT personnel.

“The parties exchanged views on the training of qualified IT specialists in Uzbekistan, the expansion of IT service exports to Japan and the creation of new opportunities for specialists in the international labour market,” the ministry’s statement said.
