Baku, April 21, 2026 – AZERTAC

Since its inception in 2021, the Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) has rapidly evolved into a globally recognized diplomatic platform by prioritizing contemporary and solution-oriented discourses. Dr. Cenk Tamer, Senior Researcher at the Ankara Center for Crisis and Policy Studies (ANKASAM), asserted in a statement to AZERTAC that over the past five years, the forum has successfully established itself as a “global brand” and a pivotal diplomatic hub.

Tamer observed that as the global balance of power progressively shifts toward Asia, Türkiye has strategically anticipated this trajectory through its “Asia Anew Initiative,” launched in 2021. He emphasized that the ADF serves as a critical institutional framework for monitoring global transitions, facilitating active state participation, and providing a transparent environment for the deliberation of complex regional and international challenges.

Türkiye as a Central Actor in Conflict Resolution

Dr. Cenk Tamer underscored Türkiye’s proactive diplomatic maneuvers aimed at mitigating global crises and fostering a stable international order:

“As of 2026, Türkiye has re-emerged as a central protagonist, particularly within Middle Eastern peace initiatives. In the face of escalating regional tensions, Türkiye’s multifaceted diplomatic engagement—specifically its employment of ‘Shuttle Diplomacy’ and mediation frameworks—has been instrumental in de-escalating volatility and remains vital for regional de-confliction.”

Furthermore, Tamer noted that Türkiye’s robust bilateral relations and high-level diplomatic engagement with Iran, the Gulf monarchies, and the Turkic states facilitate the prevalence of strategic restraint and political pragmatism. He cited the measured, cooperation-oriented, and poised response of Türkiye and Azerbaijan following the recent incidents regarding Nakhchivan as a definitive manifestation of their shared strategic doctrine.

An Exemplary Model of Strategic Restraint

Dr. Tamer maintained that the two brotherly nations have established a replicable model for regional stability by adhering to rational policymaking and resisting provocative externalities:

  • Rational Policy Doctrine: By circumventing reactionary measures, Türkiye and Azerbaijan have operationalized a policy model dedicated to the preservation of regional equilibrium.
  • Trans-Regional Solidarity: The emphasis on dialogue and cooperation is significant not only for localized stability but also for consolidating solidarity within the Islamic world and the Turkic geopolitical sphere.
  • International Norm-Setting: The ADF provides a global stage for Türkiye and Azerbaijan to reaffirm their status as committed proponents of international peace and security.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. Tamer posited that had Türkiye and Azerbaijan not pursued such calibrated and cooperation-based strategies amidst contemporary crises, the geopolitical tensions in the Middle East would likely have undergone a significant horizontal expansion. Consequently, the strategic behavior of both nations serves as a normative benchmark for other state actors in the international system.
