Freight volumes have risen significantly in Kyrgyzstan

Over the past 15 years, Kyrgyzstan has seen steady growth in freight volumes across all modes of transport.

According to information provided to Trend by the country’s National Statistical Committee, freight volumes have increased from 36.9 million tonnes in 2010 to 51 million tonnes in 2023, 54.1 million tonnes in 2024 and 60.7 million tonnes in 2025.

This represents a 64.5 per cent increase, or a 1.6-fold rise compared to 2010. Over the same period, the country’s GDP grew from 220.4 billion som (US$2.5 billion) to 1.97 trillion som (US$22.6 billion), an 8.9-fold increase, or 796.7 per cent.

In 2025, freight volumes increased by 12.2 per cent compared to 2024.
