South Korea and the United States have established a joint working group to increase cooperation on the Alaska LNG project and related tariffs. The two countries aim to address energy security and economic opportunities under this cooperation, which will last until 2025.
The Alaska LNG project is a large-scale energy initiative that aims to facilitate the export of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Alaska to Asian markets. The project is of strategic importance for energy diversity and security for both the US and South Korea. The working group will help accelerate the process by addressing the project’s technical, financial and regulatory challenges. South Korean Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun said in a statement that this cooperation will strengthen economic ties between the two countries and help diversify energy supply chains. White House National Energy Dominance Council Co-Chair Doug Burgum emphasized that the Alaska LNG project will make significant contributions to both the local economy and global energy markets. The working group also aims to reduce trade tariffs and barriers between the two countries.
