Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektanov held talks with Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Katerina Reich.

According to the Report’s Kazakhstan bureau, citing the Kazakh government’s press service, the parties discussed the development of cooperation in the fields of the economy, investment, industry, energy, transport logistics and critical minerals.

Bektenov noted that Germany is one of Kazakhstan’s key trade, economic and investment partners within the European Union. He said that in 2025, the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries reached $4.4 billion, an increase of 9.5 per cent compared with the previous year.

The Prime Minister emphasised that Kazakhstan is keen to move from traditional trade and investment cooperation towards more advanced industrial and technological cooperation. “We are keen to take industrial cooperation to a new level through the localisation of production, technology transfer and the training of highly qualified personnel,” said Bektanov.

Projects by the German companies CLAAS and Horsch in the field of agricultural machinery manufacturing in Kazakhstan were cited as a successful example of cooperation. According to both sides, the model of phased localisation of production could be extended to other industrial sectors.
