Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has condemned Iranian drone attacks on the airport in Nakhchivan.
According to Trend on Thursday, citing Akorda, this was announced by press secretary Aibek Smadiyarov.
‘In connection with the attack by Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles on the airport in the city of Nakhchivan, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has made his position public. It boils down to a strong condemnation of this act against brotherly, allied Azerbaijan,’ the statement said.
At the same time, President Tokayev expressed hope for a thorough investigation of the incident in cooperation with Iran, as well as for the resolution of the conflict through diplomatic means in order to avoid escalating tensions in the region.
It should be noted that on 5 March, a drone attack was carried out on the Nakhchivan International Airport.
According to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence, technical means have established that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran sent four unmanned aerial vehicles towards the Nakhchivan region of Azerbaijan to carry out attacks. One of them was disabled by units of the Azerbaijani Army, while the others targeted civilian infrastructure, including a secondary school building during classes.
