Kazakhstan has approved a project allowing Russia to open a new Consulate General in Aktau. The Kazakh government will provide all necessary support for its operation. Currently, Russia has consulates in Almaty, Ust-Kamenogorsk, and Uralsk. Aktau, located on the Caspian Sea, is a major industrial and resort city and serves as the administrative center of the Mangystau region.
