Poland and the US have moved to the next stage in negotiations on the deployment of a permanent US military base on Polish territory.

According to Report, this was announced by Poland’s Minister of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, on social media platform X.

He stated that around 60 per cent of the country’s citizens support the establishment of a permanent US base in Poland.

The minister also noted that the Pentagon is currently conducting a review of its military forces, the results of which will form the basis for further decisions.

Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that the government would adopt a resolution to prepare the conditions for the establishment of a permanent US military base on the country’s territory.

It should be noted that in early June, Kosiniak-Kamysz submitted an official proposal to US Defence Secretary Pete Hegset regarding the deployment of a new permanent US military base in Poland. Warsaw intends to offer attractive terms and expects a decision on expanding the military contingent to be taken in the near future. For its part, the US has requested further information, including details of Poland’s financial contribution.

Washington had previously announced the deployment of 5,000 troops to Poland.
