As part of the Pendragon project, the French Armed Forces plan to unveil their first combat robot unit by next summer.
According to Report, this was reported by Le Point.
It is noted that the unit will comprise around 10–15 ground robots and approximately 60 drones, whose operations will be coordinated by a small group of military personnel using the C2 Pendragon artificial intelligence system.
In addition to transporting ammunition and essential supplies, the robots are also planned to be used for other tasks, equipped with machine guns or heat-seeking missiles. The drones will be used both for long-endurance reconnaissance and as strike drones equipped with explosives.
It is noted that ground-based robots weigh 2–3 tonnes, with most being wheeled platforms powered by internal combustion engines. One of the key objectives of the Pendragon project is to keep the cost of a robotic unit at around €10 million.
