Within the framework of the visit, high-level negotiations are planned, as well as the first meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council under the chairmanship of the leaders of the two countries.

As expected, the main attention will be paid to the further strengthening of Uzbek-Tajik relations of friendship and good neighborliness, and the development of strategic partnership and alliance.

The negotiations’ agenda will include issues of expanding political dialogue, trade-economic and interregional cooperation, the development of industrial cooperation and transport connectivity, as well as ensuring water-energy security and continuing cultural-humanitarian exchanges.

Following the visit, it is planned to launch new joint projects and sign a package of bilateral documents aimed at developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

Rahmon last visited Uzbekistan to participate in the 7th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia on November 15–16, 2025. Before that, the heads of state regularly met within the framework of various events and summits.

The last state visit of the President of Tajikistan to Tashkent took place on August 17–18, 2018. At that time, it was the first state visit of the Tajik leader to Uzbekistan in 17 years.
