A senior Russian lawmaker, Andrey Kartapolov, has warned that if France sends a military contingent to Ukraine, it will be a “one-way ticket” for the French soldiers. Responding to reports from Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) claiming France is preparing up to 2,000 personnel, Kartapolov, who chairs the State Duma’s defense committee, labeled the potential decision “idiotic.” He alleged that French President Macron, whom he described as unpopular and a “complete failure” at home, is seeking a foreign policy “success.” The lawmaker stressed that any foreign contingent fighting for Ukraine will be a “legitimate target” for the Russian army and “all of them will be eliminated.”
