Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Japan’s newly announced sanctions against Russia are “unfriendly” and warned that they will not go unanswered. Last week Japan expanded its sanctions over the war in Ukraine, targeting more individuals and entities and lowering the price cap on Russian oil. Zakharova stated that Russia’s response would be carefully considered, based on national interests, and could include asymmetric countermeasures.
