Tajikistan and Uzbekistan plan to increase trade turnover to 2 billion dollars by 2028.
“Thanks to the far-sighted policies and firm resolve of our countries’ leaders – Emomali Rahmon and Shavkat Mirziyoyev – the borders between our states have become bridges of friendship, and our economic space has become a platform for implementing large-scale joint initiatives. In order to attract investment, in addition to incentives, preferential treatment and favourable conditions, the political will of the two countries’ leaders is of paramount importance,” he said.
Rasulzada noted that trade turnover between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan had grown from 70 million to 1 billion dollars in a short period. “Today, the governments have set themselves the task of increasing this to 2 billion dollars by 2028,” he added.
“All this has made it possible to create hundreds of thousands of new jobs and improve the well-being and standard of living of our two brotherly nations. To date, more than 130 enterprises with Uzbek capital are operating in Tajikistan. Meanwhile, in Uzbekistan, the number of active companies with Tajik investment has already exceeded 410. Our partnership has reached a whole new level. The clearest evidence of this trend is the fact that, to date, Tajikistan’s private sector is already implementing investment projects in Uzbekistan worth around 2 billion dollars,” he said.
