Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Olzhas Bektanov held meetings in Astana with Odile Renaud-Basso, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, ExxonMobil’s Senior Vice-President Peter Larden and Marubeni Corporation’s Managing Executive Director Satoru Ichinokawa, who had arrived to take part in the 38th plenary session of the Foreign Investors’ Council under the President of Kazakhstan.

The parties discussed expanding investment cooperation within the framework of the new investment cycle announced by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

During the meeting with the EBRD President, issues relating to investment in infrastructure, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, the financial sector and business support were discussed. Bektanov noted that over the years of cooperation, the bank has implemented 354 projects in Kazakhstan worth $12.7 billion. Odile Renaud-Basso stated that in 2026, EBRD investments could exceed a record €1.3 billion.

Discussions with ExxonMobil focused on production figures and the development of the Tengiz, Kashagan and Caspian Pipeline Consortium projects. Talks with Marubeni explored prospects for expanding Kazakh-Japanese cooperation in the energy and industrial sectors.

Following the meetings, the parties confirmed their interest in implementing new investment projects and strengthening long-term cooperation.
