Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Mikheil Kavelashvili, President of Georgia, discussed ways of further expanding the multifaceted relations between Uzbekistan and Georgia.
This was stated in a press release from the Georgian President’s press office.
During the meeting, the intensification of contacts at the level of parliaments, governments and the business community was noted with satisfaction.
“Trade turnover last year amounted to 270 million dollars, and the number of joint projects and enterprises is growing. The first Georgian digital bank, ‘TBC’, is operating successfully in Uzbekistan. Direct flights are operating between Tashkent, Tbilisi and Batumi. In March this year, the Days of Georgian Culture were successfully held in the capital of Uzbekistan. Priority is being given to increasing the volume of mutual trade, including through the effective use of the potential of the ports of Poti and Batumi,” the statement reads.
It also highlighted existing opportunities for promoting cooperation in the fields of pharmaceuticals, chemicals, agriculture, transport, energy, digital technologies and tourism.
The importance of expanding ties between regions to facilitate business, tourism and cultural exchanges was emphasised.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Mikheil Kavelashvili to pay a visit to Uzbekistan.
