The Middle Corridor is becoming one of the most practical and reliable routes between Asia and Europe.

As reported by Trend on Friday, this was stated by former Tajik Foreign Minister Rashid Alimov during the 13th Global Baku Forum on the theme ‘Overcoming Global Divisions in a Period of Transition’.

‘The countries of Central Asia have always supported initiatives and development in the region. As is well known, significant progress has been made under China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Over the past decade, it has played an important role in modernising infrastructure and expanding the region’s transit potential. At the same time, the development of the Middle Corridor has taken on particular significance,” he said.

R. Alimov noted that the Middle Corridor is becoming one of the most practical and reliable routes between Asia and Europe via Central Asia and the Caspian Sea.

“We are following the European Global Gateway initiative with great interest. We expect it to complement the existing infrastructure, strengthen sustainability and give new impetus to transport development,” he said.

The diplomat emphasised that significant transformations have taken place in Central Asia in recent years. Railways have been modernised, new international motorways have been built, and transport and logistics centres have been established.
