According to preliminary figures, trade turnover between the Baku International Seaport and the ports of Turkmenistan for the first eight months of 2026 increased by 34.6 per cent compared with the same period last year.
This is stated in a press release from Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (AZR).
Furthermore, according to preliminary figures, trade turnover between the Port of Baku and the ports of Kazakhstan over the same period increased by 6 per cent compared with the same period last year.
Furthermore, the statement notes that, with organisational support from the Baku International Seaport, owned by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (AZR), a meeting was held as part of the Conference of Port Directors of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), attended by senior management from the ports of Aktau, Kuryk, Turkmenbashi, Poti and Batumi.
The main aim of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation with a view to transforming the Caspian and Black Sea basins into a more efficient, reliable and competitive transport and logistics hub.
During the discussions, participants examined the growing strategic importance of the Middle Corridor, the strengthening of coordination between regional ports, the faster and more predictable handling of cargo flows, and opportunities for joint cooperation.
