The United States reaffirmed its “ironclad” support for South Korea and praised the country’s commitment to its Constitution following the detention of impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol.
A White House National Security Council spokesperson highlighted the strong U.S.-ROK alliance and commitment to the rule of law.
“The United States stands firm in our support for the Korean people and appreciates the Republic of Korea’s efforts to uphold its Constitution,” the statement read. The U.S. also expressed confidence in Acting President Choi and pledged continued cooperation with the South Korean government.
