Representatives from Uzbekistan and Belarus visited the construction site of the integrated nuclear power station in the Jizzakh region, where they were briefed on the progress of the project and discussed the application of Belarusian expertise in the development of Uzbekistan’s nuclear energy sector.
This is stated in a press release from the Uzbekistan Atomic Energy Agency (Uzatom), published following the visit by the Uzbek and Belarusian delegations to the Farish District of the Jizzakh Region.
The delegation comprised Achilbay Ramatov, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan; Viktor Karankevich, Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus; Azim Akhmedkhadzhaev, Director of the Uzbekistan Atomic Energy Agency; and Denis Moroz, Minister of Energy of Belarus.
During the visit, the officials familiarised themselves with the progress of construction and installation works, the development of supporting infrastructure and the key stages of the project’s implementation.
“The delegation reviewed the progress of the project, including the construction and installation works, the development of supporting infrastructure and the main stages of construction of the future nuclear power station,” the statement said.
During the talks, particular attention was paid to utilising Belarusian expertise in the construction of nuclear power facilities. The parties discussed the possibility of engaging Belarusian specialists to provide expert support during the design, construction and subsequent operation of Uzbekistan’s first nuclear power station.
