As part of the Tashkent International Investment Forum (TIIF-2026), bilateral talks were held between Ibrohim Ergashev, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan, and Dya Roro Esti, Deputy Minister of Trade of Indonesia.
The main focus was on accelerating the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation between the two countries.
The parties noted the positive trend in business relations: by the end of 2025, bilateral trade had grown by 82 per cent, reaching US$150.8 million.
To consolidate the progress made, an agreement in principle was reached to step up work on a free trade agreement (FTA).
Measures to remove non-tariff barriers were discussed separately. The Uzbek side raised the issue of simplifying phytosanitary and quarantine requirements, which should help boost exports to the Indonesian market.
The parties also expressed their intention to develop direct cooperation between representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises in both countries.
