Uzbekistan and Japan strengthen cooperation in the field of digital technologies

Talks were held in Japan on expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in the fields of digital technologies and artificial intelligence. The meeting took place between Rustam Karimjonov, Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, and the Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, Trend reports.

According to the report, discussions focused on the training of IT specialists and artificial intelligence experts with a focus on the Japanese market. The parties also considered the development of grant programmes and opportunities to increase exports of IT services from Uzbekistan.

It was noted that over the past year, around 30 Japanese IT companies have become residents of IT Park Uzbekistan and have begun active operations in the country, which has contributed to strengthening technological cooperation.

The meeting participants discussed further areas of cooperation, including the expansion of training programmes for specialists to work in Japan, the possibility of establishing the Uzbekistan Japan Digital Centre, and the potential of data centres in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

In addition, the issue of inviting Takehiko Matsuo to participate in the international events “Game Fest 2026”, “IOI” and “ICT Week 2026”.

Following the talks, the parties confirmed their interest in deepening their digital partnership, aimed at developing human resources, increasing exports of IT services and expanding cooperation in the digital economy.
