On 8 October, Jamshid Kuchkarov, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan and Minister of Economy and Finance, met with Hiroki Sekine, Senior Managing Director and Member of the Board of Directors of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan, the meeting focused on prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation and the implementation of joint projects.
Also taking part in the talks were Kohei Toyoda, JBIC’s Regional Head for Europe, the Middle East and Africa; Botir Mutalov, the bank’s representative in Uzbekistan; Yohei Higashida, Director-General of the Energy Project Finance Department; and other representatives of the financial institution.
The parties exchanged views on further strengthening their mutually beneficial partnership, developing initiatives already underway, and opportunities to launch new joint projects.
Particular attention was paid to infrastructure projects carried out under public-private partnerships (PPPs), including in the healthcare and energy sectors.
In addition, the meeting participants discussed the prospects for further expanding the use of renewable energy sources as part of energy initiatives.
