Uzbekistan and Pakistan sign a large package of documents

The President of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan held the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council in Islamabad. They agreed to establish a Business Council, a Regional Forum, and a Council of Experts, and to expand cooperation in a number of areas. A large package of documents was signed.

On 5 February, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif, held the first meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council. This was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan, who is on a state visit to Islamabad.

Issues related to expanding cooperation in various areas, as well as the international and regional agenda, were discussed.

At the end of last year, the volume of mutual trade reached almost $500 million. The countries continue to work on bringing this figure to $2 billion in the coming years.

There are currently around 230 enterprises with Pakistani capital operating in Uzbekistan. Cooperation projects are being implemented in the textile, pharmaceutical, chemical, agricultural and other industries.

An agreement has been reached on the creation of an Uzbek-Pakistani Business Council, a Forum of Regions, as well as a multiple expansion of the product range within the framework of the existing Preferential Trade Agreement.
