On 5 February, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with a delegation from e& (Etisalat And), part of the Emirates Telecommunications Group Company PJSC, from the United Arab Emirates. The company serves 189 million subscribers and operates in 38 countries around the world, Trend reports.
During the meeting, the prospects for the development of telecommunications infrastructure in Central Asia and the Middle East were discussed, as well as issues of technological and infrastructure integration. The strategic importance of Uzbekistan as a regional platform for expanding cooperation was emphasised.
Minister Shermatov provided information on the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan aimed at upgrading telecommunications networks, accelerating digital transformation and creating an attractive environment for foreign investment.
During the visit, the delegation familiarised itself with the work of IT Park and the projects of the UZINFOCOM Single Integrator. The country’s successes in implementing digital solutions in the public administration system and service delivery were demonstrated, and key tasks for transforming Uzbekistan into a regional and international IT hub were outlined.
