For Uzbekistan, the TRIPP (Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity) initiative could become a multi-level platform of opportunities that fits organically into the country’s strategy of openness and economic modernisation.
This was stated to Trend by Azamat Seitov, Doctor of Sociology (Uzbekistan).
‘First of all, TRIPP opens up qualitatively new transit and logistics prospects for Uzbekistan. As a country with no direct access to the world’s seas, Uzbekistan is objectively interested in diversifying its transport routes,’ the expert noted.
According to him, the development of alternative corridors focused on the South Caucasus and further to Western markets will reduce dependence on a limited number of traditional routes, increase the sustainability of foreign trade and reduce logistics costs for exporters and importers.
‘In this sense, TRIPP complements national efforts to transform Uzbekistan into a regional transport and logistics hub,’ A. Seitov emphasised.
He also drew attention to the trade and economic dimension of the initiative.
‘Participation in the project creates conditions for more active entry of Uzbek products into the markets of Europe and the Middle East via multimodal routes, as well as for attracting foreign partners to the processing, storage and transportation of goods,’ he said.
