UZCARD and Mastercard have agreed to develop digital payments in Uzbekistan

JSC “Unified National Processing Centre” (UZCARD) and the international payment system Mastercard have signed a memorandum of understanding providing for cooperation in the development of payment infrastructure and digital financial services in Uzbekistan, Trend reports.

According to a statement by the parties, they intend to explore opportunities for joint initiatives aimed at expanding the cashless payment network, developing cross-border settlements, and introducing modern fintech solutions and digital services with additional features.

One of the priority areas of cooperation will be ensuring cybersecurity against the backdrop of an increase in the volume of digital financial transactions.

Mastercard noted that Uzbekistan’s digital economy continues to develop rapidly, and that the payment infrastructure is one of its key elements. The company emphasised its commitment to combining international technological expertise with local know-how to improve access to secure and convenient digital payments.

For its part, UZCARD stated that the collaboration with Mastercard would contribute to the development of the national payment system, the expansion of cashless transactions and the strengthening of the country’s digital ecosystem. The importance of strengthening cyber security in the context of digital transformation was also highlighted.
