The European Commission has confirmed that Serbia has met all the criteria for the opening of Cluster III in its EU accession negotiations.

According to Report’s Balkan bureau, Serbian leader Aleksandar Vučić made this statement following the South-East Europe–Ukraine summit in Kyiv.

He emphasised that even if this chapter is not opened in July, the country will continue its economic development and strive to build good relations with all parties.

“There is no need to despair. This is not such a serious issue, and it will bring Serbia neither major losses nor major gains. We will continue to work. The main priority is to ensure our country’s economic development and to build good relations with everyone,” he emphasised.

Vučić added that Ana Brnabić, Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia; Daniel Apostolović, Head of Serbia’s Mission to the European Union and chief negotiator; and Nemanja Starović, Minister for European Integration, had made great efforts to open Cluster III.
