On August 8 in Washington, the leaders of the U.S., Azerbaijan, and Armenia signed a joint declaration to establish a major transit corridor named the “Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity.” According to Uzbek scholar Prof. Sayfiddin Juraev, the project, including the Zangezur Corridor, could mark a new stage in regional integration, improve connectivity, and boost economic cooperation. The corridor’s initial capacity is estimated at 15 million tons of cargo per year, with the Azerbaijani section expected to be operational by 2026. It will shorten trade routes, reduce transport costs, and speed up deliveries from Central Asia to Europe. Various analyses suggest it could increase global trade by $50–100 billion annually, cut transit times by 12–15 hours, and reduce logistics costs by $20–30 billion per year.
