King Felipe VI’s first state visit since his enthronement marks the 20th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership. During the meeting, Xi highlighted China’s readiness to import more high-quality Spanish products and tap into cooperation potential in emerging fields such as new energy, digital economy, and artificial intelligence (AI). Spain’s steadfast adherence to an independent and cooperative China policy—despite mounting US pressure and the EU’s “de-risking” approach—underscores the deep strategic mutual trust. This cooperation, delivering tangible benefits in economic and technological sectors, is viewed as a standout model for advancing collaboration rather than confrontation within the China-EU framework.
