Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Murat Nurtleu, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, held the second China-Kazakhstan Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue in Almaty.
At the meeting, Wang Yi emphasized that China and Kazakhstan are true friends with unbreakable ties and inseparable cooperation partners. The traditional friendship between the two countries is deep-rooted and has stood the test of time, Wang said, adding that the comprehensive strategic partnership has been further deepened with the strategic guidance at the leadership level. Noting the historic records in trade volume, Wang said projects in various fields, especially energy and transportation, are progressing rapidly. The positive effects of the mutual visa exemption have also begun to be seen, he said. Stating that China is ready to build the “Belt and Road” initiative with Kazakhstan in a high-quality manner, enhance strategic trust and strengthen multilateral cooperation, Wang said that relations between the two countries will move to new horizons. He also said that China will continue to adhere to the principles of “sincerity, mutual benefit, inclusiveness and friendship” in its foreign relations policy with neighbors, and that they see Kazakhstan as a priority partner in this framework. Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Nurtleu said that China is a reliable neighbor, friend and partner. Nurtleu said that they appreciate China’s neighborly vision in its foreign policy, adding that despite geopolitical developments, the two countries maintain a high level of trust and friendship. Noting that China is Kazakhstan’s largest trading partner, Nurtleu said that they believe that relations between the two countries will have another “golden 30 years”. The sides comprehensively discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation and reached a broad consensus. They agreed to expand economic ties to achieve the trade volume target as soon as possible, develop innovative cooperation in areas such as energy and the digital economy, accelerate cross-border infrastructure projects and establish partnerships in new areas such as artificial intelligence.
