Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to France, which concluded his European tour, once again demonstrated China’s desire to deepen its relations with France and the European Union (EU). Observers emphasized that building trust, strengthening cooperation, and deepening European integration are critical to creating stability and opportunities in China-France relations amid shifting global balances.
Wang, who met separately with French President Emmanuel Macron and Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot in Paris, said that China and France should be two forces working for stability, openness, and unity at a time of increasing global challenges. Wang stressed the need to deepen cooperation in trade, science, and education, protect free trade, and ensure the security of global supply chains. Wang, who co-chaired the seventh meeting of the China-France High-Level People-to-People Exchange Dialogue with Barrot, stated that youth, academic, and institutional exchanges would be expanded in the coming years to increase cooperation in the cultural, educational, and academic fields.
