The European Commission has not received new information on the condition of the “Druzhba” oil pipeline, which has been idle since the end of January after being damaged as a result of a Russian attack on Ukraine.

As reported by the European bureau of Report, this was stated in Brussels by EU spokesperson for energy Anna-Kaisa Itkonen.

According to her, the European Commission is in contact with the Ukrainian side regarding the situation with the damaged oil pipeline, as well as with EU member states, primarily Slovakia and Hungary.

“Our priority remains the security of energy supplies to the countries of the European Union. But as for the operation of the pipeline, I have no new information,” she said.

On Tuesday, March 3, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban published on social media a letter addressed to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, in which he accused Ukraine of deliberately blocking supplies for political reasons.

He called on the EU to put pressure on Ukraine “so that it does not undermine the energy security of Hungary and Slovakia” and to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Association Agreement.

“In this regard, I would like to inform you that until this situation is resolved… (until the given situation is resolved – ed.) I will not be able to support in the European Union any decisions favorable to Ukraine,” the Hungarian prime minister indicated in the letter.
