Moldova has made significant progress in the process of joining the European Union in recent years.

This was stated in an interview with Report by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova Mihai Popșoi.

“Moldova is moving forward and has made significant progress over the past four years since applying for membership in the European Union. Last year, the European Commission’s report noted Moldova as the country that has demonstrated the most progress among all candidate countries. This makes us very proud, but at the same time requires us to take on a great responsibility to maintain this pace,” he said.

Popșoi emphasised that among the latest achievements is the participation of Moldovan citizens in the Roam Like at Home programme, thanks to which roaming charges are no longer applied when travelling to EU countries: ‘In addition, we have joined the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), which has significantly reduced bank transfer fees. This creates a serious incentive and facilitates the development of business contacts.’

‘It is also worth noting the €1.9 billion growth and sustainability support package, which is aimed at developing Moldova’s infrastructure and increasing the competitiveness of its economy. And, of course, in this context, large-scale projects will be implemented in which Azerbaijani companies will also be able to participate,’ he said.
