Hungarian energy company MOL announced on Thursday that it had reached an agreement with Croatian company JANAF to test the capacity of the Adria pipeline.
‘MOL welcomes the start of testing, as it could put an end to the long-standing debate about the pipeline’s actual capacity. Testing with the participation of specialists will show how much volume the Adria pipeline can handle,’ the Hungarian company said in a statement.
In addition, MOL is awaiting a response from the Croatian side as to whether it will allow the transit of Russian crude oil. JANAF has not yet responded to a request sent last week and has asked for time to clarify the EU sanctions regulation, which has been in force for several years and was also voted for by Croatia.
Earlier it was reported that due to damage to the Druzhba oil pipeline infrastructure in Ukraine, the European Commission proposed that Hungary and Slovakia temporarily receive oil via the Adria pipeline. Supplies via this pipeline are scheduled to begin in April.
