Topographic and legal working groups from Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan have finalised the definition of more than 10.7 km of the disputed border between the two countries, Trend reported.

This work was carried out during a meeting held in Buston, Sughd Oblast, Tajikistan, from 12-17 March. As a result of the meeting, 10.76 kilometres of the Tajik-Kyrgyz border were agreed upon and the relevant protocol was signed. The parties also agreed to hold the next meeting in Kyrgyzstan and to continue work on defining the remaining sections of the border.

Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister said in February that about 200 km of the total border line had been defined, but about 100 km of disputed sections remained. Both countries want to complete the delimitation and demarcation process as soon as possible, but the exact date for signing a final agreement is not yet known.
