Moldova ranks first in terms of readiness for membership of the European Union.
According to Report, citing Moldpres, this was stated in Chisinau by EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos during a press conference following talks with Moldovan President Maia Sandu.
“Moldova ranks first in terms of readiness for EU membership. We expect that under the Cyprus Presidency we will be able to open the first negotiation chapter in mid-June. This is also the European Commission’s position: Moldova and Ukraine are ready to open all negotiation chapters. I hope this will happen before the summer holidays,” Kos noted.
According to her, the results achieved by Moldova in the implementation of reforms have made it possible to mobilise over €600 million for investment.
“Moldova has achieved a 93% implementation rate for reforms, which is an outstanding result. This has enabled the mobilisation of over €600 million in investment. Such stability and an improved environment make Moldova very attractive for doing business,” she noted.
Kos’s visit to Moldova will last until 6 June.
