Talks were held at the Hong Kong Business Centre between a delegation from the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the leadership of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, resulting in the signing of a memorandum of cooperation, Trend reports.
According to the report, the Uzbek side was led by Davron Vakhobov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The delegation also included representatives of the ‘Uzeltehsanoat’ association, the Jizzakh region and the private banking sector. On the Hong Kong side, the meeting was attended by Agnes Chan, Head of the HKGCC, representatives of InvestHK and the business community.
During the talks, the prospects for cooperation in the fields of green energy, investment, industrial cooperation and the promotion of goods to foreign markets were discussed.
The parties paid particular attention to the economic potential of the Jizzakh region. The Uzbek delegation presented projects in the automotive, textile and tourism sectors. The Hong Kong side also expressed interest in the Zaamin Technology Park and noted the high level of participation by Chinese companies, which account for 90% of the region’s investment portfolio.
The Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry expressed confidence that the agreement signed with the HKGCC would help increase trade turnover and expand opportunities for national companies to access international financial markets.
